Third Eye has worked with Palm Springs Art Museum on a variety of initiatives. Most recently, Third Eye ushered in the grand opening of Albert Frey and A. Lawrence Kocher’s seminal Aluminaire House onto the museum’s Downtown Palm Springs campus. This 1931 case study of all-metal, affordable home design joins the museum’s preservation efforts of key mid-century architecture, including the Frey House II.
Working closely with the museum leadership as well as preservation experts, Third Eye devised a strategy that gave the Aluminaire House significant attention throughout its construction process, focusing on conversations surrounding architectural history, preservation, and affordable housing. The project was met with acclaim from a variety of architectural, art, and design media, across broadcast, online, and print formats, in addition to being a major highlight of Modernism Week 2024.
